It is essential for your child’s education that they establish the routine of attending school every day and on time! This is a crucial partnership between families and school. One of the best indicators of academic achievement is attendance. This is also linked to emotional well-being. We all have a duty to ensure that all children reach their full potential.
Attendance is celebrated and rewarded at Rednal Hill Infant School. Each week one class receives the winning certificate for the best attendance record in our "Congrats" assembly. Children receive a yellow sticker to show they have had 100% that week and the top three classes receive the attendance certificate for the best attendance.
Each half term Gold, Silver and Bronze attendance certificates are awarded to children in the final Congratulations Assembly. The children are delighted to receive an award and be recognised for excellent attendance.
If your child achieves 100% attendance for the whole year they are awarded a school hoodie with 100% attendance printed on the back and the school year. The children are extremely proud to wear these around school.
Some children have achieved 2 and even 3 years of 100% attendance whilst at this school. They have been rewarded with special treats personal to them. We have enjoyed days at Drayton Manor Theme Park, horse riding, theatre visits and even a match day in an executive box at Aston Villa FC!

We know and understand that children at times may become ill, meaning that they are not able to attend school. If this is the case, please ensure that call the school office on 0121 453 2636 to notify them of your child’s absence. We welcome calls into school to discuss whether your child should stay at home or not. If your child is not feeling 100%, we will of course call to inform you. In some instance we are able to administer prescribed medications to support your child’s attendance.
We are proud of the support we give to our families to support attendance and understand that there may be other reasons for non-attendance apart from illness. If you are struggling to get your children to school or be on time, please speak with either your child’s class teacher or the school admin team who will be able to help you.
